Cryogenic Energy Storage Facility Decommissioning and Dismantling

Egniol was appointed by our long term client, Viridor Waste Management.
We provided project management and contract administration support on the decommissioning and dismantling of a 5MW cryogenic energy storage facility.
The plant had been built and successfully operated under a government supported demonstration scheme to prove the novel technology prior to large scale deployment.
The decommissioning and dismantling work was complex, time critical and the plant was co-located on an operational Viridor site, which meant that the work had to be undertaken in a way that minimised disruption to Viridor’s operations.
We were engaged as Viridor’s representative to ensure that all aspects of the works were carefully planned and executed, from pre-commencement through to completion.
We worked in detail with the Principal Contractor on the project programme and risk register, managing internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the works were undertaken safely and in accordance with the agreed risk assessments and method statements, and managing the change process through the appropriate contractual mechanisms.
We were delighted to be part of the team that delivered this key project successfully.
