Senior Structural Engineer Bangor, North Wales

Our Bangor office offers a unique working environment set in a picturesque lakeside location easily accessible from the A55 and with parking and electric vehicle charging provided.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Undertake structural design calculations in a variety of materials including steel, concrete, timber and masonry in accordance with British Standards / Euro Codes to successfully deliver projects for our clients. You will be required to produce, and coordinate scheme designs then develop them to tender and construction. 
  • Work closely with other members of the team, in particular structural CAD technicians, in the preparation of working general arrangement and detail drawings. In some instances drafting services will need to be undertaken by structural engineers. 
  • Undertake coordination with other professionals as appropriate, including Contractors, and organise your time to ensure timely delivery of projects. 
  • Collaborative working with other Egniol offices. 
  • In addition to design tasks, you may be required to supervise trial hole investigations and undertake visual structural inspections. 
  • Liaise with Clients and other members of the design team to ensure designs meet the Client brief, including attendance at design team meetings / site meetings as required.

Skills & knowledge requirements:

  • Designs will be produced by hand calculation or using Design Software as appropriate to the nature and magnitude of the project and to underpin this you will be expected to have a good grasp of Engineering Principles. 
  • Have a good understanding of technical design packages including Tekla, CADS and Tedds to support the design process. 
  • Good organisational, planning and time management skills. 
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated. 
  • Attention to detail. 
  • The ability to work with others and within a team. 
  • Aptitude to work on your own initiative. Good verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Good IT skills including a basic understanding of AutoCAD and Word. 
  • Full driving licence and use of a car. 
  • Commercial awareness.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Degree in relevant Engineering subject. 
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in similar engineering consultancy. 
  • Working towards and close to achieving membership of relevant Professional Institution (e.g. Incorporated or Chartered Member of ICE)
